Appearance
Deep antique gold with polished bronze reflections.
Aroma
Immediately unmistakable as Ledaig. Bright citrus lifts first, freshly baked lemon drizzle cake, before it settles into railway coal smoke and warm engine oil. Given time, wet stone, sea spray and a touch of brine appear, bringing a freshness that keeps everything in balance. Beneath it all sit soft notes of honeyed malt, vanilla and gentle oak that only become clearer the longer you spend with it.
Taste
Full-bodied, oily and deeply satisfying. Sweet citrus and honeyed barley arrive first, before mineral smoke, charred oak and coastal salinity build across the palate. The industrial character is always there but never takes over: it gives the whisky shape, letting vanilla cream, barley sugars and a rounded richness develop with every sip. The finish is long and warming, smoke fading into cooling embers and fine ash while wet stone and sea salt linger, and as the peat retreats candied lemon peel and gentle barley sweetness remain.

Ledaig
Distillery
Ledaig is the peated malt of Tobermory distillery, founded in 1798 on the Isle of Mull and one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland. From its harbour-side home in the town of Tobermory, the distillery draws soft water from the island's hills to create a maritime spirit defined by Hebridean peat and sea air. This cask is that spirit at full voice: eighteen years in ex-bourbon oak has rounded the smoke without quieting it, leaving the coal and the salt intact and revealing a sweetness underneath that only long maturation brings.
