Tasting Notes

Appearance

Golden amber with bright, sunlit hues, and slow, syrupy legs that hint at real depth and texture.

Aroma

Freshly baked apple pie leads — stewed orchard fruit wrapped in buttery pastry and soft cinnamon — over biscuity, almost shortbread malt, with vanilla cream, light caramel and a delicate floral lift.

Taste

Rounded and luxuriously textured: honeyed malt and golden syrup give way to baked apple and a custard-like richness, balanced by toasted oak and gentle peppery spice. The finish is long and softly spiced, oak and cinnamon fading into vanilla cream and light honey.

Flavour Summary

About

Glen Garioch

Distillery

Founded in 1797 by the Manson brothers at Oldmeldrum in the eastern Highlands, Glen Garioch (pronounced ‘Glen Geery’) is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries. It once dried its own malt over peat, but since the floor maltings fell silent in 1995 the house style has become fuller and largely unpeated — wholesome malt and honeyed sweetness lifted by orchard fruit and warm oak. Drawn from a single ex-bourbon cask, this fifteen-year-old captures that patisserie-sweet Highland character in one finite filling, never cast quite the same way again.
