Why we chose this cask

Deanston is known for honeyed, waxy malt. Thirteen years in a single ex-bourbon barrel laid toasted coconut and vanilla cream over the top, with baked orchard fruit and buttery pastry underneath. Soft, generous and sweet at cask strength.

One cask, 245 bottles.

Who it is for

For the drinker who goes back for a second slice of coconut cake.

Sweet, creamy and easy-going at cask strength, with enough orchard fruit and gentle oak to keep it from being only dessert.

Tasting notes

Toasted coconut leads, like a freshly made coconut snowball, all sweet malt and vanilla. Soft orchard fruits and buttery pastry follow, with gentle oak, delicate baking spice and a fresh barley note that keeps the spirit at the heart.

About Deanston

Highland

Deanston sits on the banks of the River Teith at Doune, in the southern Highlands, inside a cotton mill built in 1785. It became a distillery in the 1960s and still makes its own electricity from the river. The house style is honeyed, waxy and fruity, and unpeated. Drawn from a single ex-bourbon barrel, this thirteen-year-old captures that soft, sweet Highland character in one finite filling, never cast quite the same way again.
