Whilst I am not a father myself, one thing I have always loved about whisky is the moments that seem to happen around it. Some of the best conversations I have had have been over a dram, whether at a festival, around a dinner table, or just opening a bottle with people you enjoy being around. That has always been the thing that has mattered most to me: not just what is in the glass, but what is happening around it.
So with Father's Day coming up I thought I would pull together three bottles from our current range that I would personally reach for. I have deliberately picked one from each tier, because memorable whisky is not always the oldest or the most expensive bottle. Sometimes it is simply the right bottle for the right person.
Glen Garioch is one of those distilleries that quietly catches people out. Whenever I pour it at festivals or tastings people either do not know much about the distillery or have never looked for it, then suddenly they are asking where they can get a bottle. It is approachable without being simple. Stewed orchard apples wrapped in buttery pastry and dusted with soft cinnamon spice keep things interesting from the first sip to the last.

One of those whiskies I keep finding reasons to go back to. The Oloroso influence works brilliantly here. Dark fruits, warming spice and chocolate sit together naturally, while that slightly coastal Jura character keeps everything balanced. A proper sit down and switch off whisky.

Some bottles feel special before you have even opened them. Older whisky can lean too heavily into age alone, but what I love here is the balance: honey, mature fruit, subtle smoke and beautifully integrated oak, all together. Part of our Grandfather collection.
